Tips

  • Baste the ham with juices before serving for extra moisture and flavor.
  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking.
  • If your ham is pre-sliced, reduce cooking time slightly.
  • Letting the ham rest helps keep it juicy when slicing.
  • Line the slow cooker with foil for easier cleanup (optional).

Variations and Substitutions

  • Swap Dijon mustard: Use whole grain or yellow mustard for a different flavor.
  • Add spice: Mix in a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
  • Make it maple-style: Replace honey with maple syrup.
  • Citrus twist: Add a splash of orange juice or zest.
  • Brown sugar alternative: Use coconut sugar or dark brown sugar for deeper flavor.

FAQs

Can I use a bone-in ham?

Yes, just increase cooking time slightly and ensure it heats through evenly.

Can I cook on high?

Yes, cook on HIGH for about 2–2.5 hours, but low heat gives better texture.

Do I need to add water?

No, the ham releases juices as it cooks, and the glaze provides enough liquid.

Can I make it ahead of time?

Yes, you can cook it ahead and reheat slices gently in the oven or slow cooker.
