Ingredients

  • 2 cans (8 oz / 450 g each) refrigerated crescent rolls, separated into 16 triangles
  • 1 cup (125 g) cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup (175 g) finely chopped broccoli florets (steam 1 minute or use thawed frozen)
  • 6 oz (170 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (56 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup (56 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash)

Optional for garnish: dried parsley or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Heat oven to 350°F (180°C), or 160°C for a fan oven. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, broccoli, cream cheese, mozzarella, cheddar, garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended.
  3. Shape the Ring: Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Arrange them in a circle on the prepared baking sheet, overlapping the wide ends to form a ring that resembles a sun.
  4. Fill and Roll: Spoon the chicken and broccoli mixture evenly along the wide ends of the dough. Roll each triangle over the filling toward the center, enclosing the mixture.
  5. Egg Wash: Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg mixture for a shiny, golden finish.
  6. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.
  7. Serve: Sprinkle with parsley or Italian seasoning if desired. Slice and serve warm.

  • Let the crescent ring cool for 5 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Line your pan with parchment to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Protein Swap: Replace chicken with turkey, ham, or cooked bacon.
  • Vegetarian: Omit chicken and add more broccoli or mixed vegetables.
  • Cheese Options: Try Monterey Jack, Colby, or Swiss cheese.
  • Spicy Kick: Add diced jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes.

FAQs

Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! Assemble the ring, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 6 hours. Bake when ready to serve.

Can I freeze leftovers?
Absolutely. Wrap slices tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.

Do I need to cook the broccoli first?
Yes, briefly steaming fresh broccoli or thawing frozen broccoli ensures it’s tender inside the crescent ring.
